Rev. Reed Lee Pedersen's
This beautiful song from Tauren Wells has really been stuck in my head for weeks. I was first introduced to it during the 2018 ELCA National Youth Gathering in Houston at the end of June. I was a fan of this song ever since. It is on my relax playlist, walk playlist, and even my running playlist (right before Despacito!). What struck me about this song first was the beautiful voice and melody of Tauren Wells' voice and song. As I listened more I began to be struck by the words. Just take a look at the refrain: On the mountains, I will bow my life To the one who set me there In the valley, I will lift my eyes to the one who sees me there When I'm standing on the mountain, I didn't get there on my own When I'm walking through the valley end, no I am not alone! You're God of the hills and valleys! Hills and Valleys! God of the hills and valleys And I am not alone! The song not only acknowledges thanks for God for when we feel on top of the world. It also acknowledges that God is with us when we are in the deep dark valleys of life. What an uplifting message to know that God is with us always. As God of the Hills and Valleys, God is with us at the peaks and lows points of our lives. God is with us when we pray and when we do not. God is with us when we get that promotion and when we can't stand another day at the same job. God is with us when we witness the miracle of children being born and when someone suffers yet another miscarriage. Our faith in God as God of the Hills and Valleys allows us to shout just as Tauren does, "And I am not alone!" Points to Ponder:
